The risograph was released in Japan in the 1980’s by the Riso Kagaku Corporation. This duplicator machine is well known for its vibrant colors, imperfections, low environmental footprint, and ability to mass produce unique work. It is a machine designed to act as a fast and low cost screen printer.

New Martyr Press uses a SF5130 (1 color drum, legal master size). It is important to us to be using this duplicator, not only for the unique aesthetic of RISO, but because New Martyr Press’ saint used a duplicator to distribute the pamphlets that eventually led to his death in Nazi Germany. We want to continue to honor St. Alexander’s work and legacy, while applying the RISO’s late 20th century aesthetic, unique to the time period we live in.
